Guwahati: Police in Cachar took 35-year-old Pradip Kalindi into custody following the assault of a six-year-old girl. The attack occurred at a home in Pururthal Punjee while the child’s mother was out gathering firewood. Neighbors intervened after the mother found the injured girl and sounded the alarm.
Local residents tracked Kalindi to a nearby forest. They caught him and beat him before turning the man over to Dholai police. Officers rushed the victim to Silchar Medical College and Hospital. Doctors report she is recovering.
"A case has been registered against the accused under multiple relevant sections of the law, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act," a senior police official stated. Investigators continue to gather evidence as regional groups demand harsh punishment for the suspect.
