BJP worker claims brutal kidnapping at Guwahati sports club

Guwahati: Noman Dewan, an active BJP worker, says he spent four hours in hell. He claims a mob of 30 people trapped him inside the Break Point Sports Club on B. Barooah College Road. The incident allegedly occurred on June 21.

Dewan identified Anil, Pawan, Manjeet, and Suhel Basfor as the ringleaders. He told police the group beat him and demanded cash to settle a grudge from four years ago. The ordeal ended only when his father alerted authorities to his whereabouts.

Dewan filed his complaint at the Pan Bazar Police Station on June 22. Officials later moved the case to the Paltan Bazar Police Station. The victim claims the law has yet to touch the suspects. He says his family continues to live in fear. "I and my family also claimed they have continued to receive death threats from those allegedly involved," he stated.

The victim is a known political operative for Central Guwahati MLA Vijay Gupta. Local police have not yet released a statement or made any arrests in the ongoing investigation.
