Bir Lachit Sena demands police crackdown on Sivasagar drug trade

Guwahati: Bir Lachit Sena members marched to the Sivasagar Sadar Police Station on Wednesday. They handed the officer-in-charge a formal demand for a crackdown on local drug dealers. The organization claims narcotics are flooding Sivasagar and hooking local kids.

Dwijen Gogoi, president of the Sivasagar Town Committee, signed the document. It points fingers at two specific families living near the cremation ground in Ward No. 7. The group claims these residents run a trafficking operation despite recent police raids.

The organization notes that while cops stepped up patrols recently, the supply chain remains unbroken. They are pushing for deeper investigations to identify everyone involved in the network. "Stringent action against drug traffickers was necessary to protect the younger generation and work towards the creation of a drug-free society," the memorandum stated.

The group wants arrests. They insist that cleaning up the streets is the only way to save the next generation from addiction.
