Guwahati: Baksa district officials met Saturday to sharpen their flood response plan. District Commissioner Kimnei Changsan chaired the session at the Mushalpur office. She ordered departments to tighten coordination before the monsoon hits. Teams must visit high-risk spots and keep relief camps stocked with food, medicine, and anti-venom.
The administration checked the inventory for the coming weeks. They have inflatable boats and geobags staged for quick deployment. Personnel from the fire department, Civil Defence, and 180 Aapda Mitra volunteers are on standby. The District Disaster Response Force is also ready to roll.
MLA Maneswar Brahma pushed for strict oversight during the briefing. He noted the need for consistent monitoring and basic supplies. "Ensure the availability of adequate drinking water, mosquito nets and other basic amenities at relief camps," Brahma said.
Authorities are tracking damages through the online DRIMS portal to speed up relief. The Water Resources Department finished embankment repairs, while the power company has a restoration plan in place. The public can report emergencies to the round-the-clock center in Mushalpur at 84719-00263 or toll-free at 1077.
