Guwahati: The District Administration of Baksa recently completed a week-long outreach campaign designed to connect remote tribal communities with essential government services. Running from May 18 to May 25 under the theme Sabse Door, Sabse Pahle, the initiative operated as part of the nationwide Janjatiya Garima Utsav 2026. The program reached five development blocks: Baska, Dhamdhama, Jalah, Barama, and Gobardhana.
Government officials held health camps, village-level interactions, and grievance sessions to address local needs. The campaign focused on providing information and enrollment support for key initiatives, including the PMAY-G housing scheme, MGNREGA, PM-KISAN, and the Orunodoi program. Teams conducted on-site verifications, disability certification assistance, and eKYC linkages to ensure eligible tribal households were properly registered for welfare benefits.
Specific block activities included water quality testing demonstrations in Dhamdhama and targeted grievance collection in Baska. In the Barama and Gobardhana blocks, local residents raised concerns regarding housing benefits and human-animal conflict issues near Manas National Park. Officials resolved several minor complaints during the events, while providing direct guidance on application procedures for more complex cases. The campaign saw active involvement from community leaders, youth representatives, and self-help groups throughout the district.
