Badruddin Ajmal Criticizes Government Over Evictions and Rising Inflation

Guwahati: AIUDF chief Badruddin Ajmal launched a sharp critique against the BJP-led administrations in Assam and at the national level on Monday. During a press conference, the MLA condemned ongoing eviction drives, the escalating cost of essential goods, and the treatment of minority communities.

Ajmal expressed concern that these eviction operations are causing undue hardship for genuine Indian citizens. He argued that the authorities must prioritize proper rehabilitation and resettlement before clearing land. Asserting that his entry into politics was driven by public support, he warned of a growing climate of fear among minorities, specifically calling out the policies of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Home Minister Amit Shah. He stated, "Proper rehabilitation and resettlement measures should be ensured before carrying out eviction exercises."

Beyond land issues, the AIUDF leader highlighted the financial strain placed on households by the rising prices of fuel and LPG cylinders. He vowed that his party would remain steadfast in demanding justice and safeguards for those affected by these government measures. In response to such criticisms, the state government maintains that its eviction operations follow legal protocols and are necessary to reclaim public land from illegal encroachment.
