Assam Teacher Accused of Assaulting Student in Bongaigaon School

Guwahati: A Class VII student in Assam’s Bongaigaon district suffered head and ear injuries after being allegedly assaulted by her teacher. The incident occurred at the Bidyamandir M.E. School in the Bhakarivita area when teacher Sushankar Dutta reportedly attacked the student following a noise disturbance in the classroom.

The student returned home at 3 PM with a bleeding ear and swelling on her head. Her family claims the teacher failed to provide any medical assistance after the incident, which occurred earlier in the afternoon. Parents also allege that there were attempts by staff to conceal the assault from the headmaster.

The family filed an FIR at the Bongaigaon Sadar Police Station, demanding disciplinary action against the teacher. When confronted by reporters, Dutta admitted to the physical confrontation, citing personal mental stress as the reason for his behavior. Local residents have joined the family in condemning the incident and are calling for authorities to hold the teacher accountable for the injury.
