Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma honored voluntary blood donors on June 14, marking World Blood Donor Day by highlighting their vital contribution to the state healthcare system. He emphasized that the selfless actions of these individuals are essential for preserving lives across the region.

Addressing the importance of the occasion, the Chief Minister stated, "Donate blood, save lives. On World Blood Donor Day, I extend my heartfelt appreciation to every blood donor whose selfless act has helped save countless lives."

Beyond celebrating donors, Sarma reaffirmed the commitment of his government to modernize the state medical infrastructure. He noted that Assam is actively upgrading its blood banking facilities and launching public awareness campaigns to encourage more citizens to participate in voluntary donation programs.
