Agartala: Assam Rifles joined forces with the Department of Customs to bust a smuggling ring in Tripura. They struck Mungiakami village in the Khowai district. The raid netted contraband valued at 2.24 lakh rupees. Two suspects are now in custody.
The Radhanagar Battalion of Assam Rifles led the push under the direction of Headquarters 21 Sector and the Inspector General Assam Rifles (East). Intelligence tips sparked the operation. The team moved in during the evening hours to corner the suspects. They recovered 1,000 bottles of Eskuf Syrup. Officials believe the stash was meant for illegal transit.
Authorities handed the men and the haul to the Department of Customs. Legal proceedings are underway. Officials stated, "The successful operation reflects the effective coordination between Assam Rifles and civil enforcement agencies in combating illegal activities and strengthening security measures in the border areas of the Northeast."
