Assam Rifles Seize 9,500 Yaba Tablets in Tripura Drug Bust

Agartala: Assam Rifles and Tripura Police intercepted a drug shipment in Kanchanpur on August 31. Agents seized 9,500 Yaba tablets worth Rs 38 lakh during the joint operation. Intelligence reports tipped off the forces about narcotics moving through the North Tripura district. They caught one suspect mid-transport.

The team grabbed a TVS Apache motorcycle at the scene. They believe the suspect used the bike to haul the contraband. Security forces turned the man, the bike, and the drugs over to Kanchanpur Police for processing. Investigators are now working to pin down the source of the drugs and find who else is running the trafficking network.

This bust is part of a larger push to secure the region. Security agencies are ramping up surveillance to choke out smuggling routes. Officials remain committed to the cause. As one official statement noted, the seizure is "part of these continuing efforts to curb drug trafficking and strengthen security in the Northeast."
