Kohima: Security chiefs met in Lekhapani on June 27 to map out the state of play in Upper Assam, South Arunachal Pradesh, and Nagaland. Commanders from the Indian Army, Assam Rifles, state police, and intelligence agencies packed the room. They had work to do. The group focused on insurgent activity, cross-border threats, and patching up gaps in surveillance before Independence Day.
Officials hammered out a unified plan for real-time intel sharing and quicker reaction times during emergencies. The session ended with a promise to tighten coordination across the border regions. Assam Rifles stated that such initiatives "not only enhance public health but also strengthen the bond between security forces and local communities."
The focus shifted to health the following day. Assam Rifles ran a polio immunization drive at Garrison Hospital in Kohima on June 28. Medics gave the oral vaccine to 41 children under five years old. Parents showed up in force to support the effort. Medical staff used the visit to school families on the need for follow-up check-ups and keeping vaccines on schedule.
