Guwahati: Assam has achieved a top-three ranking in India for growth in school internet connectivity. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced the recognition on June 2, noting that the milestone serves as a clear indicator of the state's ongoing educational transformation.
The Chief Minister credited the progress to a decade of development under the NDA government. Beyond internet access, Sarma highlighted significant improvements in essential school infrastructure, including reliable electricity supply, the availability of computers, and the construction of girls' toilets.
These enhancements are part of a targeted initiative to strengthen educational facilities and expand learning opportunities for students in rural and underserved regions. Sarma emphasized that these advancements represent the early stages of a larger developmental push aimed at bridging the digital divide across the state.
