Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma triggered a full administrative push today as floodwaters continue to swamp Dhemaji. The government is moving equipment and personnel into the region to save lives and stabilize the area. Officials are prioritizing immediate safety and long-term recovery for displaced families.
Sarma addressed the crisis on Sunday. He signaled that the state is watching every development in real time. "Since the flood situation has unfolded in Dhemaji, I’ve been closely monitoring the situation. We are deeply saddened by the impact it has had on the lives of our people and in this difficult time, we firmly stand with them," Sarma said.
The Chief Minister ordered two cabinet members to stay on site until the water recedes. Water Resources Minister Atul Bora and Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Keshab Mahanta will command the ground operations. Their mission is to stop the chaos and get aid to stranded residents as fast as possible. The state government pledged that every needed resource is hitting the ground to manage the destruction.
