Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma marked the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on Friday by promising a tougher stance on narcotics. The state government is targeting drug networks with sustained enforcement and aggressive awareness campaigns. Drugs destroy lives. The administration intends to stop this cycle.

Sarma took to social media to signal his administration's focus on the issue. "Today, we mark the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, a subject which our Govt is working on very closely with a relentless crackdown against drugs," he stated. Local authorities are running a persistent operation to dismantle supply chains.

Assam Police have intensified their work across the state recently. Officers are making more arrests and seizing larger shipments of suspected narcotics. The government says these efforts aim to preserve the future of the youth. Sarma claims the mission is clear: save the next generation from social ruin.
