Guwahati: Sivasagar police intercepted a truck carrying 40 suspected stolen cattle during a night operation on National Highway 37. The vehicle was moving from Dibrugarh toward Nagaon when officers pulled it over. It was a bust aimed at halting regional smuggling.

Officers detained the driver, Bijoy Doley, and his handyman, Amar Deka. The pair now faces a formal investigation as legal proceedings get moving. Police confirmed the transport was illegal. The truck and the animals remain in police custody.

"The operation was part of ongoing efforts to curb the illegal transportation and smuggling of cattle along the National Highway passing through Sivasagar," police stated. Investigators are digging for more leads as the case continues.
