Guwahati: Assam police and the Assam Rifles busted a major drug haul on Sunday. Officers seized 80,000 Yaba tablets across Cachar and Hailakandi districts. The stash has a street value of nearly Rs 8 crore. Two men are now in custody.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the arrests on social media. He praised the joint work of the state units and the Assam Rifles. The crackdown is part of the ongoing statewide #AssamAgainstDrugs initiative.

Sarma took a blunt tone regarding the suspects. He posted, "Roses are red, Violets are blue, 80,000 tablets seized, Zero sympathy for you."

Authorities say this operation shows they mean business. They plan to keep hunting down traffickers across the state. The arrests mark another win in the government campaign to stop illegal drug flow.
