Guwahati: Assam Police smashed a drug trafficking operation in Nalbari district this week. Officers seized 211.5 grams of suspected heroin hidden inside 16 soap boxes. The haul holds an estimated market value of 1.48 crore. Two suspects remain in custody following the raid.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the arrests on social media. He praised the Nalbari Police for stopping the shipment before it reached the streets. "Another consignment intercepted before it could poison our communities," Sarma said.

Authorities are now working to track the source of the drugs. Investigators hope the interrogation will expose the wider trafficking network. The state continues its aggressive crackdown on local narcotics distribution.
