Guwahati: Assam police hauled in a massive drug shipment yesterday. Officers recovered nearly Rs 13 crore worth of narcotics during a dual-district raid across Sribhumi and Cachar. The operation netted 49,800 Yaba tablets and 535 grams of heroin. Six suspects are now behind bars.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed the bust on social media. The haul marks a heavy hit against regional trafficking rings. When traffickers claimed, "This is business," Assam Police fired back with a blunt, "Not in Assam."

Authorities are currently tracing the supply chain to find more members of the network. This raid falls under the ongoing state campaign to scrub drugs from local streets. The Chief Minister urged people to skip the illegal trade and look for work through government welfare programs instead.
