Guwahati: Assam police have launched an investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of a minor girl in the Dhubri district. The case gained public attention after explicit audio clips and videos linked to the incident surfaced on social media platforms, causing significant distress to the victim and her family.

Authorities identified the primary suspect as 19-year-old Sahil Alam Mondal, a resident of Geramari. The victim and her family filed a formal complaint at the Gauripur Police Station on Sunday after the illicit content began to spread rapidly across the internet.

Officers plan to charge the suspect under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act, known as the POCSO Act. They are also applying relevant sections of the Information Technology Act to address the distribution of child exploitation material online. Police are currently working to locate the suspect and determine the origin of the viral media.
