Guwahati: Assam police brass tightened security protocols in Tinsukia this week. Top officers arrived to inspect counter-insurgency readiness following the arrest of two suspected ULFA (I) cadres in Jagun. Inspector General Akhilesh Kumar Singh and Inspector General Jitmol Doley led the review on June 25 and 26. They demanded better coordination between intelligence branches and local police units.

Tinsukia Superintendent Mayank Kumar Jha hosted the strategy session. Officials scrutinized military-grade hardware seized during the recent bust. Police recovered two AK-56 assault rifles, 172 rounds of ammunition, and two hand grenades. Investigators confirmed the gear was linked to the two detained suspects.

The review prioritized inter-agency cooperation. The goal is clear: block militant movement and stop future attacks. Addressing the operational readiness of the District Executive Force, one official stated the review was aimed at "ensuring sustained operational readiness against insurgent threats."
