Guwahati: Assam officials moved to eject Kayam Ansari from the country. The Biswanath district administration issued a formal order yesterday demanding he cross the border into Bangladesh. The order follows a ruling by a Foreigners' Tribunal that identified the Kherbari village resident as a foreign national.

District Magistrate Karabi Saikia Karan signed the directive after receiving a report from the Superintendent of Police. Ansari has been held at the Matia Transit Camp in Goalpara since May 28, 2025. Officials confirmed that no active court cases or legal petitions remain pending against him. The administration stated: "There is no legal impediment to his deportation."

Ansari must exit through the Sribhumi, Dhubri, or South Salmara border crossings within 24 hours. Failure to comply will result in a forced removal. Local authorities have also started clearing his name from the electoral roll and seizing his property under state law. Police must now coordinate with border agencies to finalize the transfer.
