Guwahati: Assam ministers Susanta Borgohain and Keshab Mahanta met with officials in Jonai on June 29. They reviewed the wreckage caused by relentless rain near the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border. The meeting followed orders from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to get a grip on the worsening flood and erosion crisis.

The ministers demanded a steady flow of food, water, and medical care for families huddling in relief camps. District leaders must keep watch on the rising water. They were ordered to fix coordination gaps between government departments to speed up the rescue work. Member of Parliament Pradan Baruah and MLAs Prasanta Phukan, Bhubon Pegu, and Jiban Gogoi sat in on the session.

Authorities are struggling as river levels continue to spike across the region. Officials were told to ensure "uninterrupted supply of essential commodities, healthcare services and timely assistance to families taking shelter in relief camps." State crews remain on high alert as the heavy weather shows no sign of quitting.
