Assam Minister Visits Families of Two Girls Found Dead in Kokrajhar Pond

Guwahati: Assam Cabinet Minister Rameswar Teli visited Dholmara village in the Kokrajhar district on May 28 to meet the families of two young girls discovered dead in a local pond on May 21. The victims, identified as students Anamika Bara and Sarita Oraon, were found in a case that has sparked significant concern and calls for a formal investigation from the local community.

During the meeting, family members and villagers voiced strong suspicions regarding the official explanation of the deaths. They told the minister that they struggle to accept drowning as the cause and are demanding a transparent, detailed inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

Minister Teli expressed his condolences to the grieving families and the local community. As part of an immediate support measure, he provided each family with sanction letters for financial aid totaling Rs 2 lakh each.
