Guwahati: Assam Minister Pijush Hazarika met with District Agriculture Officers and Engineering Cell officials on Sunday to discuss strategies for making the state agricultural sector more sustainable and farmer-centric. The discussion centered on expanding government outreach to ensure more farmers receive timely support.

A primary goal is increasing official farmer registration. By bringing more individuals into government records, the administration aims to improve access to welfare schemes and support networks. The minister emphasized the need for consistent monitoring to ensure that programs like the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi reach every eligible recipient promptly.

The meeting also addressed a new proposal for soil-based seed distribution. Officials plan to align seed allocation with specific local soil conditions to drive higher productivity. During the session, the minister highlighted the government mission to enhance field-level results through better resource management. He stated that the initiative is aimed at "ensuring that a larger number of eligible farmers are formally brought into the welfare network."
