Guwahati: Assam Minister Atul Bora has been assigned the additional charge of the Parliamentary Affairs Department as an interim arrangement. According to an official notification issued on May 16, this appointment was made by the Governor of Assam following the advice of Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Bora currently serves as the minister for Panchayat and Rural Development, Implementation of Assam Accord, Border Protection and Development, and Excise.

This administrative change arrives just in time for the first session of the newly formed Assam Legislative Assembly, which is scheduled to commence this Thursday. The upcoming legislative gathering is set to span four days and will conclude on May 26. Alongside Bora, the cabinet includes members Rameswar Teli, Ajanta Neog, and Charan Boro.

Chief Minister Sarma previously indicated that a broader cabinet expansion is expected to occur after the conclusion of this legislative session. The addition of the Parliamentary Affairs portfolio to Bora's existing responsibilities ensures the smooth management of house proceedings during the assembly's opening meetings.
