Guwahati: Assam Minister for Finance, Environment and Forest, Jayanta Malla Baruah, called for the widespread adoption of climate-smart agricultural practices during a recent workshop in Guwahati. The event focused on natural and organic farming methods to help the state better manage environmental threats like floods and droughts.
Organized by the BJP Kisan Morcha, Assam Pradesh, in partnership with the Guwahati City District Kisan Morcha, the session marked 12 years of governance under Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Held at the Assam PWD and NH Department convention center, the gathering brought together local farmers, agricultural experts, and party members to discuss long-term sustainability.
Baruah emphasized that modernizing farming is essential for meeting food demands while protecting soil health. He stated that the goal is to "ensure long-term agricultural sustainability, improve soil health and enhance farmers’ resilience against environmental challenges." The minister urged the agricultural community to shift toward these resilient systems to secure the future of the state's primary industry.
