Guwahati: Assam Minister Rameswar Teli inaugurated Duliajan’s first railway overbridge on Sunday at Madhabpur. The project, which spans 830 metres, cost 72 crore rupees to complete and serves as a vital infrastructure upgrade for the region. Funding for the development was split between the state government, which provided 47 crore rupees, and Indian Railways, which contributed 25 crore rupees.
The bridge aims to resolve recurring traffic congestion along the Madhabpur-Tipling Road. Frequent rail movement previously caused significant delays for commuters, freight transport, and emergency vehicles. Teli noted that the new structure addresses a specific, long-standing request from the public. "The project had been a long-standing demand of local residents," Teli said during the opening ceremony.
Improved access will particularly benefit employees and residents associated with OIL India Limited, as the company maintains its field headquarters in Duliajan. By eliminating bottlenecks at the railway crossing, officials expect the overbridge to streamline daily travel and logistics throughout the area.
