Assam Government Shuffles 35 Police Officers in Major Reorganization

Guwahati: The Assam state government ordered a massive shakeup of its police force. More than 35 officers changed posts this Tuesday. This group includes battalion commandants and deputy commissioners of police. Officials issued the notification to finalize these moves across multiple districts and units.

Mahato Amitkumar Sidhiprasad now serves as Senior SP for security to the Chief Minister. He takes over for Utpal Bayan. Bayan shifts to the Guwahati Police Commissionerate as DCP for the border. Nirmal Baishya leaves his role as Commandant of the 23rd Assam Police Battalion to become Deputy Director of Fire and Emergency Services in Guwahati. Ananda Tokbi moves from the 6th Assam Commando Battalion to fill the vacancy left by Baishya.

Other shifts include Geetanjali Doley leaving the 15th APBn to become DCP for Protocol in Guwahati. Iftakhar Ali replaces her, moving to Barpeta as SSP for the FRRO. Deborshi Choudhury transitions to the 15th APBn as Commandant, while Amit Raj Choudhury takes over his former post as Additional SP for Biswanath headquarters. Bhargav Sanjeevan Goswami returns from central deputation to serve as ASP for Kokrajhar headquarters.
