Assam Government Shakes Up Bureaucracy in Major Reshuffle

Guwahati: The Assam government moved a massive block of IAS and ACS officers on June 25. The reshuffle affects key departments and districts across the state. Officials say the changes take immediate effect to boost administrative efficiency and improve how the state delivers services to the public.

Special Chief Secretary Syedain Abbasi dropped his role in the Housing and Urban Affairs Department. He now takes over the Irrigation Department. Dr. Om Prakash left his post at the Samagra Shiksha Axom Mission. He moves to serve as Commissioner and Secretary for the Environment and Forest Department, plus the Skill, Employment and Entrepreneurship Department.

District leadership turned over rapidly. Deba Prasad Misra left Hojai to become Secretary of the Home and Political Department. Madhu Sudan Nath moved from Chirang to the Agriculture Department. Megha Nidhi Dahal stepped into the Finance Department and picked up the additional job of Managing Director at the Assam Industrial Development Corporation. Rohan Kumar Jha left Barpeta for the Barak Valley Development Department.

Aayush Garg landed at the Samagra Shiksha Axom Mission. Rahul Kumar Gupta took his old spot as District Commissioner of Cachar. The government filled other district posts with a wave of new appointments. Dibakar Nath heads to Dhubri. Srishti Singh takes over Morigaon. Jay Vikas moves to Hailakandi. Parikshit Thoudam starts as the District Commissioner of South Salmara-Mankachar.

The ACS cadre saw similar shifts. Sanjoy Dutta now leads Hojai. Nabadeep Pathak handles Barpeta. Pulak Patgiri moved to Udalguri. Karabi Saikia Karan oversees Biswanath. Lakhinandan Saharia runs Bongaigaon. Gakul Chandra Brahma commands Chirang. These changes are aimed at "strengthening administrative efficiency and public service delivery across the state."
