Assam floodwaters swallow Bongaigaon homes as residents demand relief

Guwahati: Raging waters from the Aie and Manah rivers are tearing through Dhalagasa and Ghoramara villages. The destruction started Saturday morning. Erosion moved fast. Families watched their land vanish into the riverbed before they could move their belongings.

Floodwaters swallowed houses and soaked acres of crops. The sudden surge gave residents no time to pack or pull their homes apart. People are now trapped without a place to go.

Local families claim the government is ignoring the crisis. They directed their anger at the district administration, MP Rakibul Hussain, and MLA Nurul Islam for a total lack of support. One victim stated, "The flood situation has made it extremely difficult to salvage belongings or relocate to safer places."

The survivors want help. They are calling on Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to send aid immediately. They need erosion control and a plan for rehabilitation before the river takes what is left.
