Guwahati: Flood waters are finally pulling back across Assam. The state's disaster management authority confirmed the total number of affected people dropped to 6,678 on July 3. Dhemaji stands as the lone district still battling the deluge.

The situation shifted fast. Just one day earlier, 25,100 people across Dhemaji and Dibrugarh faced rising tides. Currently, 2,495 men, 2,399 women, and 1,784 children remain stuck in the water.

Relief efforts continue on the ground. A total of 129 people are living in three state-run camps in Dhemaji. Beyond the human toll, the flooding hit local livestock hard. The ASDMA reported that 4,765 animals have been affected during the current spell of flooding.

Infrastructure held up well despite the heavy water. Officials found only one road with partial damage in Dhemaji. Authorities noted there were no fresh fatalities, stating "no fresh deaths or missing persons were reported on Friday." The total death toll for the state this year stays at two.
