Guwahati: The Assam government has completed an extensive review of preparations for the upcoming NEET-UG 2026 re-examination, which takes place on June 21. Chief Secretary Ravi Kota and Director General of Police Harmeet Singh led a video conference with Deputy Commissioners and Senior Superintendents of Police to coordinate efforts across all districts. These measures follow specific directives from Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and the National Testing Agency.

More than 43,000 students are expected to sit for the exam across 88 centers spanning 17 districts. District officials have been ordered to supervise the process personally to guarantee a secure and transparent environment. The planning covers essential infrastructure, including CCTV systems, biometric verification, and reliable power backups.

Security protocols will be rigorous, featuring dual-layer frisking for all candidates and strict oversight during the transport of confidential materials. Beyond security, the state emphasized candidate welfare. Centers must provide clean amenities such as drinking water, shaded waiting areas, functional fans, and proper seating to ensure the day proceeds without logistical failures.
