Guwahati: The Assam Pradesh Congress Committee suspended four general secretaries from its Hailakandi district unit on Tuesday. The disciplinary action follows reports of misconduct during an organizational review meeting held on May 30.

The suspended party members are Jahan Uddin Barbhuiya, Sarim Sadiol, Mitujjaman Laskar, and Najmul Hussain Barbhuiya. Party president Gaurav Gogoi ordered the immediate suspension after internal disorder disrupted the proceedings at the Hailakandi district office.

While official statements did not specify the exact nature of the disruption, reports indicate that escalating tensions during the session necessitated an intervention by state leadership. This move highlights the party's push to enforce stricter organizational discipline as it undergoes internal restructuring across its regional units.
