Assam CM Honors Former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma honored the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister P.V. Narasimha Rao on Sunday. Sarma credits the late leader with shifting the nation toward a new economic era. The Chief Minister posted his respects on social media.

Sarma praised the former leader for his long-term impact. "Tributes to former Prime Minister Shri P.V. Narasimha Rao Ji on his Jayanti. A visionary statesman, his bold economic reforms transformed India's growth trajectory," he wrote. Rao led the country from June 1991 until May 1996.

Those five years changed everything. Rao started major liberalisation efforts that built the current economic path for India. He was born on June 28, 1921. His tenure remains a clear turning point for national progress.
