Assam Chief Minister Meets Kiren Rijiju to Fast-Track Flood Recovery

Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma sat down with Union Minister Kiren Rijiju at his New Delhi home on July 2. They talked flood relief. The pair focused on how to speed up rehabilitation for families hammered by this year's monsoon. It is about fixing lives.

Sarma thanked Rijiju for traveling to Assam recently to look at the damage firsthand. The Chief Minister called the sit-down productive. "Today in Delhi, I had a fruitful meeting with Hon'ble Union Minister Shri @KirenRijiju Ji," Sarma wrote online. He plans to use federal help to ramp up rebuilding efforts.

Rijiju offered public praise for how the state government handled the rising waters. He credited the Chief Minister with moving fast to keep people safe. Additional Chief Secretary K K Dwivedi and Resident Commissioner Kavitha Padmanabhan sat in on the talks. Both governments want to push recovery efforts forward now.
