Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma visited Guwahati on June 26 to mark the 110th anniversary of Shree Marwari Databya Aushadhalaya. The event highlighted over a century of public health service in the state.

Sarma awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Nomal Chandra Borah. The physician received the honor for his decades of medical service. The Chief Minister also handed out accolades to other healthcare staff for their ongoing work at Marwari Hospital.

Sarma praised the Marwari community for building deep roots in the region. He noted their work in trade and commerce. "The Marwari community, which has been settled in Assam for decades, has made significant contributions to the state's progress across sectors, particularly in trade, commerce and healthcare," Sarma said.

The hospital started as a small charitable dispensary. It grew into a pillar of local health infrastructure. Officials released a commemorative souvenir during the ceremony to document this long history.
