Guwahati: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma met with Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari on Monday to evaluate the progress of major infrastructure initiatives across the state. The discussion focused on accelerating development through key projects, including the proposed Brahmaputra underwater tunnel and the Kaziranga Elevated Corridors.
The leaders also reviewed the status of National Highway expansions and various road repair works currently underway. Following the meeting, Sarma expressed his gratitude for Gadkari's ongoing support, noting that the Union Minister's guidance has been instrumental in resolving project issues and advancing the state's connectivity goals.
Sarma characterized the meeting as a productive learning experience and acknowledged the Minister's support during the recent Assam elections. He emphasized that these infrastructure improvements are essential for strengthening the local economy and securing long-term growth for the region.
The meeting, held in New Delhi, was also attended by Union Minister of State for External Affairs Pabitra Margherita and Resident Commissioner of Assam Bhawan, Kavitha Padmanabhan.
