Guwahati: Assam Finance Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah expects to table the state's latest budget on July 10. The plan prioritizes promises made during the NDA 3.0 election campaign. The government aims to balance these commitments with fiscal discipline while reaching across all communities. Mallabaruah spoke after a consultation meeting held in Guwahati.
Officials met at Vivanta Guwahati to shape the spending plan. Participants included Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, various cabinet ministers, and state legislators. The BJP also brought in experts from healthcare, banking, and education to offer policy advice. Mallabaruah knows the weight of this task. "This is the first budget of my life. I have discussed every aspect with the Chief Minister," he said.
The state wants to pad its coffers. It will not hike tax rates to bring in more cash. Instead, the government aims to grow the total number of registered taxpayers. Mallabaruah insists the strategy remains practical. He believes the final document will accurately mirror the hopes of the public. "The budget will be realistic. People have high expectations, and the budget will reflect the aspirations of citizens at every level and from every community across the state," the minister added.
