Guwahati: Assam will roll out its full state budget on July 10. Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Barua plans to present the spending plan before the Legislative Assembly. BJP state president Dilip Saikia confirmed the move on June 24 in Guwahati. Big plans ahead.
The ruling BJP government says the state economy is booming. GDP has more than doubled over the last ten years. Per capita income jumped from roughly Rs 85,000 in 2014 to about Rs 1.90 lakh today. The party intends to keep that momentum going.
Saikia claims the budget will center on public welfare and state development. He noted that officials held pre-budget meetings to gather input from roughly 200 experts in health, education, and farming. They also met with 25 private industry stakeholders. Saikia said, "The forthcoming budget is expected to reflect the aspirations of the people and contribute to strengthening Assam's ongoing developmental progress."
This is the second consecutive term for the administration led by Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Officials are betting that these consultations will ensure the state budget hits the right marks for citizens.
