Guwahati: The Assam Pradesh BJP is preparing to host a major celebration in Guwahati on May 26 to honor its 82 newly elected MLAs. The event, scheduled for 6 PM at the Srimanta Sankardev International Auditorium, marks the party's third consecutive victory in the state legislative assembly elections.

Before the main ceremony, officials will hold an organizational meeting at the Sri Sri Damodardev Auditorium starting at 10 AM. This gathering will include district and mandal presidents from all corners of the state. The party plans to recognize the leaders of 39 organizational districts and 433 mandals for their work during the campaign.

Party spokesperson Pranjal Kalita attributed the success to the commitment of approximately 72,000 active workers stationed across more than 31,000 polling booths. The BJP secured about 38 percent of the total votes, representing a five percent increase compared to the 2021 election results. Officials credited this outcome to the dedication of nearly 65 lakh party members.

The upcoming event will feature several prominent figures, including Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, State BJP President Dilip Saikia, and Union Ministers Sarbananda Sonowal and Pabitra Margherita. Senior leaders, former legislators, and party supporters are also expected to attend the function to celebrate the party's strengthened grassroots presence.
