Arunachal's Remdo Gao Wins Gold and Secures World Championship Berth

Itanagar: Remdo Gao of Arunachal Pradesh secured a gold medal in the 55 kg Junior Boys left arm category at the PAFI National Arm Wrestling Championship 2026. Held in Gandhinagar from May 29 to June 2, the victory earned him a coveted spot on the Indian team for the World Arm Wrestling Championship taking place this September in New Delhi.

Representing his home state, Gao emerged victorious after defeating 23 competitors during the tournament. The event, hosted by the Arm Wrestling Sports Association Gujarat under the People's Armwrestling Federation India, attracted nearly 1,800 participants from 24 states. According to reports, the competition stands as one of the country's largest gatherings of the sport.

Gao, a native of Pasighat in the East Siang district, will now prepare for the international stage. His performance reflects the broader success of the state contingent that traveled to the national event.
