Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh State Transport Services celebrated its Golden Jubilee in Khonsa on Friday, honoring five decades of providing essential connectivity across the state. Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein attended the event, which recognized the growth of the transport department from a modest start of two vehicles to a network of over 320 buses operating on 96 routes.

The celebration brought together several government leaders, including Education Minister Pasang Dorjee Sona and Environment Minister Wangki Lowang. During the ceremony, officials honored former general managers and staff members for their long-term contributions to the organization. Rural Development Minister Ojing Tasing praised the institution for its enduring role in supporting the aspirations of local communities.

To mark the milestone, Deputy Chief Minister Mein officially flagged off a new fleet of luxury buses, a specialized road safety awareness bus, and a restaurant bus. These additions reflect a broader government effort to modernize public transportation and improve the overall passenger experience. Mein described the launch as a testament to the state’s commitment to safer roads and people-centric infrastructure, while commending the workers who have maintained the service over the last 50 years.
