Itanagar: The government of Arunachal Pradesh intends to revive and strengthen trade with Myanmar by making the Indo-Myanmar route and its associated port infrastructure operational within the next three years. Trade and Commerce Minister Nyato Dukam announced this timeline on Wednesday during an inspection of the Land Customs Station near Hellgate Bridge.

Minister Dukam evaluated the current facilities alongside MLA Laisam Simai and senior officials to determine how best to expand regional border trade. The delegation also toured the Border Haat at Pangsau Pass, a site long recognized as a vital gateway for economic cooperation between neighboring communities.

State officials believe the activation of this trade corridor will improve connectivity in frontier areas. By fostering stronger commercial ties between India and Myanmar, the government expects to create new jobs and generate steady livelihood opportunities for local residents. The proposal has received support from local traders and border communities who anticipate that the initiative will drive regional economic growth and open new development prospects.
