Itanagar: The Arunachal Pradesh government plans to make the Indo-Myanmar border trade route and its associated port facilities fully operational within three years. State Trade and Commerce Minister Nyato Dukam announced the timeline on Wednesday during a visit to the Land Customs Station near Hellgate Bridge. Accompanied by MLA Laisam Simai and several officials, the minister evaluated existing infrastructure and reviewed development prospects for the region.

As part of the tour, the delegation visited the Border Haat at Pangsau Pass, a site deemed vital for cross-border commerce and regional cooperation. Officials believe that activating this trade corridor will significantly improve connectivity and generate new employment opportunities for residents living in border areas.

The initiative has drawn positive reactions from the local community, as traders expect the move to accelerate economic activity. By fostering stronger commercial ties, the state government hopes to expand development opportunities and boost overall economic engagement along the border.
