Itanagar: The government of Arunachal Pradesh has officially signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Greenko Demwe Power Limited to develop the 1750 MW Demwe Lower Hydroelectric Project. Located on the Lohit River near Parasuram Kund, this initiative represents one of the largest hydropower ventures ever undertaken by the state in partnership with a private developer.

Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein announced the agreement, highlighting its potential to transform the regional economy. The facility is expected to generate approximately 7,326 million units of clean energy every year. Officials believe the project will bolster the state's status as a key player in India's renewable energy sector while driving significant progress in local infrastructure.

Beyond energy production, the government anticipates that the project will create numerous jobs, improve regional connectivity, and attract further investment to the area. State leaders emphasized that the development will proceed with a focus on sustainability, ensuring a balance between industrial growth, environmental protection, and the well-being of local communities.
