Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu wants citizens on high alert. The India Meteorological Department expects heavy rain, lightning, and storms to batter the state until July 1. Danger is near. Expect landslides, flash floods, and blocked roads.

Khandu posted an urgent warning online this Saturday. He stated, "According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Arunachal is likely to experience widespread rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning from 27 June to 1 July 2026, with isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall expected in several districts."

The weather looks worst for West Kameng and East Kameng. Meteorologists placed both districts under a Red Alert starting June 28. Officials also issued an Orange Alert for Pakke Kessang, Papum Pare, Lower Subansiri, and West Siang. These regions face heavy rainfall and potential service disruptions.

Khandu told residents to stay safe. He stressed that people should avoid unnecessary travel to risky locations. Stick to local government advice. Watch for official weather updates. The administration wants everyone to stay ready as the storm system moves in.
