Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu started a new tourism push on Monday. He flagged off Operation Arunoday from the Jaswantgarh War Memorial. It marks a partnership between the Gajraj Corps and the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports.
The project targets a trekking path from Thingbu to Bajrang Peak. Officials hope this move will fix infrastructure gaps and bring cash to remote border towns. It is a big deal for the region. The team wants to use these trails to connect military outposts with civilian neighborhoods.
Khandu met with the expedition team and local residents at the memorial. He paid respects to fallen soldiers before starting the mission. The state government views this as a way to drive growth in sensitive frontier districts. Officials described the program as a "first-of-its-kind military-civil partnership" aimed at improving local connectivity.
The plan focuses on long-term benefits. By opening up Point 5583 for trekkers, the state expects to create steady income for the people living there. The work aims to bridge the gap between armed forces and local citizens through adventure sports.
