Itanagar: The government of Arunachal Pradesh has launched a digital platform to streamline teacher transfers and postings. Part of the state's Reach to Teach initiative, the system aims to improve transparency, balance staffing across schools, and ensure better attendance monitoring.

Education Commissioner Amjad Tak announced that the Teacher Registry Portal now houses data for 16,068 teachers and 107 ministerial employees. This represents 97.4 per cent of the state's total teaching workforce. The database tracks service history, classroom performance, medical profiles, and student academic outcomes to help address staffing shortages in remote, hard-to-reach areas.

Under the new Arunachal Pradesh Teacher Transfer and Posting Policy Act, the department has already issued 2,064 intra-district transfer orders, with more than half completed. The portal has also facilitated over 600 voluntary transfer applications from staff members.

While the system promotes voluntary moves, officials confirmed that administrative relocations remain necessary to maintain a teacher-student ratio of 1:45 in underserved regions. Teachers who fail to report to their new assignments within 15 days face potential disciplinary action under the Act.

The portal is expected to reach full operational capacity by the first week of July, while the comprehensive transfer system will be phased in completely by May next year.
