Itanagar: Floodwaters are finally receding across Arunachal Pradesh. Clear weather on Friday brought a break to the state after days of heavy rain. The State Emergency Operation Centre reported fewer people and villages remain under water compared to yesterday.

Fresh trouble surfaced only in West Siang and Papum Pare districts. West Siang counts 24 affected villages, while Papum Pare reports seven. Crews are working hard to clear road blocks on the Potin-Hoj road and the Nyodu-Sibe Siru route. Officials confirmed the situation is improving, but infrastructure repairs will take time. "The disaster has caused extensive damage to public infrastructure, agriculture and horticulture," state officials noted in a recent briefing.

The toll since June 24 remains heavy. Four people died, and 21 suffered injuries. Two women remain missing in Keyi Panyor after flash floods swept them away. Search operations continue. Across the state, 90,499 people across 26 districts feel the sting of this catastrophe. Upper Siang reports the highest number of victims.

Public property took a massive hit. The floods wrecked 121 roads, 13 bridges, and two hospitals. Farmers lost over 330 hectares of crops. Meanwhile, 150 people still wait in two relief camps in Keyi Panyor. The National Disaster Response Force, state teams, and local police continue to clear the debris and restore power lines.
