Itanagar: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu honored Swami Vivekananda on Saturday. He marked the anniversary of the philosopher’s death by praising his lasting impact on the nation. Khandu credited the monk with restoring India’s confidence and spreading the Vedanta philosophy across the globe.
Khandu highlighted the monk’s 1893 Chicago speech as a defining moment for international views on Indian spirituality. "On the Nirvana Day of Swami Vivekananda, I pay my humble tributes to the great son of Bharat, who rekindled India's civilisational confidence and introduced the timeless philosophy of Vedanta to a global audience," Khandu wrote on X.
The Chief Minister noted that Vivekananda championed the divinity of the human soul and universal harmony. He urged people to embrace selfless service.
Deputy Chief Minister Chowna Mein also joined the tributes. He called Vivekananda a spiritual luminary. Mein pushed for a society built on character and fearless dedication. He believes these teachings continue to drive a confident, modern India forward.
